The Institute of Technology Transfer cooperates with more the 170 companies from all over the world. The benefits of such a cooperation are varied. This was confirmed by the German Council of Science and Humanities who stated in 2014 in its recommendations on the further development of the higher education system in Saarland that "With the Institute for Technology Transfer (FITT) gGmbH, the HTW has at its disposal a highly functioning organization for knowledge transfer, an organization which provides support for its collaboration projects and fundraising."
Almost all of the academic disciplines and research fields at htw saar are involved in FITT projects: civil engineering, business administration, healthcare and nursing, mechatronics, and many more.
Skilled academic and scientific staff backed by a dedicated team of professorial staff guarantee both first-class research and professional advisory and consulting services. Collaborative projects involving companies and htw saar yield results that are beneficial to both partners. Companies and businesses not only benefit from improved effectiveness and greater efficiency, they also profit from the extensive experience available at htw saar. For the University, cooperative research projects with a real-world practical focus enable the University to strengthen the quality of its academic teaching, improve its facilities and heighten its attractiveness.
FITT-managed projects also offer an unbeatable cost-benefit ratio thanks in part to the co-financing structure in which fifty percent of the personnel costs incurred by FITT during a specific research project are borne by htw saar (provided that a partner company contributes the remaining portion).
