International Business - Bachelor of Arts

Studying International Business allows you to develop a broad base of business knowledge that opens a wide variety of career path to you. Join us to learn how global players do business, to understand the impact of digitalization, and to improve your multicultural awareness and leadership skills. Our new curriculum meets high academic standards with a strong focus on practical experience.

We provide you with a fundamental understanding of the main areas of business administration and management in an international business environment. Further, you learn to analyze the impact of economic wealth’s, countries´ legal frameworks, and scares resources by increasing your knowledge in areas such as international economics, contract law, digitalization, and sustainability. All lectures and seminars will be taught in small groups of max. 40 students.


In the fourth semester, you start your specialization phase to increase your employability in the fields of

  • International Marketing,
  • International Logistics, or
  • International Accounting & Reporting 

You acquire not only more specialized knowledge, but you also extend your practical skills in your field of choice as you will work in multinational teams on projects with companies and institutions.

Study Abroad Experience / Double Degree programs

The integrated study abroad experience begins in the fifth semester at one of our partner universities. You will be immersed in a different cultural environment of your choice – we have placements all over Europe and in the US, Mexico, China, Japan, and New Zealand. Back at htw for your final semester, you can tailor your electives and the topic of your bachelor theses around your area interests.

Students with a high GPA can apply for a double degree program with our partner university in the US, in Finland or France. Non-German native speakers can spend a semester at the htw Business School in the German program.


This program is taught entirely in English. Courses in Academic Communication & Presentation and Academic Reading & Writing will improve your academic language skills in English.

If you are interested in languages, you have the opportunity to improve your language skills in French, Spanish, or German at no extra charge.

We urge international students to apply for the International Business program at the htw saar. A range of support options are available to you:

Costs / Funding

There are no tuition fees per semester, but an enrollment fee of approx. EUR 268 per semester which entitles students to use public transport in the state of Saarland.

Requirements / Registration

Academic admission requirements: University entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung, HZB) for German universities and German universities of applied sciences.

Language requirements: English Level B2, German Level B1
