Application process+requirements

How to apply?

  • In the first step, you apply directly to the International Office at your home university! Next, the International Office of your home university will nominate you for the IPS to htw saar. The htw saar-International Office will then, in turn, contact you and send you a link and further information about the application.
  • For the online application, in addition to the exchange application documents, you will need a letter of motivation/cover letter:
    • Template from Europass (scope max. 1 A4 page)
    • Content:
      • Why do you want to participate?
      • What experience do you have (from other projects/internships)?
      • Which areas/topics are of particular interest to you?
      • What are your strengths (personal skills)?
  • After you have submitted your application in the htw saar online application portal, your documents and data will be checked. Should anything be missing with your documentation or not meet the requirements, you will get further instructions from us. If all data and documents are complete and correct, you will be informed about your admission by e-mail.
  • Please note that your home university may have their deadlines and application procedures proceeding the nomination and nomination itself at htw saar!

What are the entry requirements for the IPS?

  • The entry requirement for the IPS is a minimum of 120 ECTS (e.g. Bachelor students of the 5th semester) AND the English proficiency requirement is at least B2.
  • The International Project Semester at this time is only available for students from European partner universities with which htw saar has an Eramsus+ or Swiss SEMP cooperation agreement in the study areas of engineering or industrial engineering.

Do I need German language skills for the IPS?

  • No, you do not need any German language skills. The work and the study program of the IPS at htw saar are in English. Your English language skills should be at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). (For further information on the language certificate, please contact the ERASMUS program officer from your university.)
