Important information on the coronavirus situation for incoming international students and partner universities  


Welcome to htw saar, University of Applied Sciences, Saarbrücken!              

htw saar is the largest University of Applied Sciences in the state of Saarland with some 6000 students and a staff of over 300. Currently, there are more than 860 international students from over 60 countries learning together.

htw saar is offering more than 40 Bachelor and Master programmes, either taught in German, or some in English or French in the four schools: Business, Architecture & Civil Engineering, Engineering, and Social Sciences.

Studies at the htw saar are practical-oriented with an excellent combination of hands-on skills along with a strong theoretical knowledge base. Research is fundamental and we attach great importance to applied research and development. We conduct research with industry partners in Germany and abroad and we belong to the top ranked Universities of Applied Sciences in Germany for R&D.

Types of exchange students:

  • Students coming from a partner university within the EHEA (European Higher Education Area) are usually Erasmus+ students

  • Students coming from partner universities outside of the European Higher Education Area are Outside-EHEA students 

 


2020/2021:
Important note for our partners:

From the winter semester 2020/21 intake onwards, we will only accept online applications. Your students will need to submit their application to us via an online application form. We will send the instructions and link directly to the students after receiving your nomination. The documents required for the application, will have to be submitted by them electronically as pdfs via an online form.
Online application will be open from end of March/beginning of April till 31 May 2020. The recommended deadline for receiving your nominations for our winter semester 2020/21 is 1 May 2020.


Important note for students interested in an exchange:

We are currently in the process of digitizing our mobility management. We therefore regret that we cannot provide you with the updated information yet. However, you are  welcome to find all kinds of practical information in our Study Guide 2019/20 (see below). The organizational information e.g. on the application procedure, accommodation, visa and other practicalities remain valid for 2020/21.
As part of our ongoing mobility digitization process we will make this information available for 2020/21 in the coming weeks. This applies also to the modules in English offered by the Business School. We do not expect any important changes and kindly ask you to refer to the 2019/20 list of modules (see below) in a first stage. The new information will be published here soon. For any further request, do not hesitate to contact us.
