How to apply?
For htw saar students
What we need from you:
- a transcript of records
- letter of motivation/cover letter (Europass, scope max. 1 A4 page)
- Content:
- Why do you want to participate?
- What experience do you have (from other projects/internships)?
- Which areas/topics are of particular interest to you?
- What are your strengths (personal skills)?
Convert all documents to PDF, and send them in one PDF file in English via email.
- Industrial Engineering students apply to Prof. Dr. Frank Kneip (frank.kneip@htwsaar.de) and put Anna Wetzling (ips@htwsaar.de) in CC.
- Mechatronic/Sensor technology students apply to Prof. Dr. Martin Löffler-Mang (loeffler-mang@htwsaar.de) and put Anna Wetzling (ips@htwsaar.de) in CC.

For exchange students
- STEP 1: You apply directly to the International Office at your home university.
- STEP 2: The International Office of your home university will nominate you for the IPS 2.0 to htw saar.
- STEP 3: The htw saar-International Office will then, in turn, contact you and send you a link and further information about the application. For the online application, in addition to the exchange application documents, you will need a letter of motivation/cover letter:
- After you have submitted your application in the htw saar online application portal, your documents and data will be checked. Should anything be missing from your documentation or not meet the requirements, you will get further instructions from us. If all data and documents are complete and correct, you will be informed about your admission by e-mail.
- Please note that your home university may have its deadlines and application procedures proceeding with the nomination and nomination itself at htw saar!
Entry Requirements
What are the entry requirements for the IPS?
Do I need German language skills for the IPS?
No, you do not need any German language skills. The work and the study program of the IPS at htw saar are in English. Your English language skills should be at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). (For further information on the language certificate, please contact the ERASMUS program officer from your university.)
- a minimum of 120 ECTS in Engineering Sciences from our partner universities
- English proficiency at least B2
Do I need German language skills for the IPS?
No, you do not need any German language skills. The work and the study program of the IPS at htw saar are in English. Your English language skills should be at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
