Q&A Scholarship

Who can apply?

Primarily students from partner universities without other funding can apply for the scholarship.

How to apply?

Interested students in the scholarship may apply first for the International Project Semester, then read the instructions carefully below, download the application form, complete it, merge it with the requested documents below into ONE PDF and send it to ips@htwsaar.de:

  1. Letter of recommendation from a lecturer or professor from the sending university
  2. Motivation letter (max. 2 pages) - Content:
  • Why do you want to participate in IPS and receive the scholarship?
  • What experience do you have (from other projects/internships)?
  • Which areas/topics are of particular interest to you?
  • What are your strengths (personal skills)?
  • Etc.
3. CV (from Europass)
         4. Transcript of records
5. Proof of experience (studies/internships abroad, project work, conferences/seminars/courses, active membership in organisations, social activity, etc.)

Note
: This application is not related to the online application for our International Office. So, you do need to write two letters of motivation, one for the IPS and one for the scholarship. For the application for the scholarship, a meaningful letter is sufficient (specifically, address funding here).

When is the application deadline?

The deadline for the following summer semester is November 30.

The deadline for the following winter semester is May 31.

How much is the scholarship?

Please get in touch with the project coordinator (ips@htwsaar.de) for this information.

How many scholarships are awarded?

Three to four scholarships are awarded each year in the IPS.

Is double funding/scholarship programs possible?

A scholarship in the International Project Semester program excludes simultaneous funding from another scholarship program (e.g. ERASMUS+, DAAD scholarships, etc.). Therefore, if a scholarship is awarded, for example, in ERASMUS+, the student must decide on funding. In the case of ERASMUS+, an IPS scholarship recipient can, however, do the mobility as a so-called “zero-grant” student, i.e. with Erasmus+status but without Erasmus+ scholarship.
