Applicants are eligible for admission to a higher semester if enough study slots are available and under certain other conditions.
You can use the online portal to apply for a higher semester, as well.
Please note that in any case, study and examination achievements must be proven to an extent that facilitates continuing your studies in a meaningful manner.
The examination board responsible for the degree program must approve your enrollment in the higher semester. However, enrollment in a higher semester is not risk-free, because all non-credited coursework and examinations from previous semesters must be completed on the first possible examination date without having attended the lecture. Exceptions to this can only be made by the examination board.
You should always take advantage of an in-depth study counseling session when applying for a higher semester.
If an internship is required and you are seeking admission for the third or a higher semester, you must provide proof of the successful completion of an internship before lectures start. If your internship has not yet been completed at the time of application, please submit a certificate (Praktikantenstellennachweis) stating that you will have completed the required internship by the time lectures begin at the latest.
Having your study and exam achievements recognized
The examination board that is responsible for your degree program decides whether your study and exam achievements can be recognized after consulting with a faculty member.
Recognition is only granted once lectures have begun.
