Summer is coming to campus: With “alt_sommer,” students at htw saar are transforming the Alt-Saarbrücken campus into an open-air street festival for the entire city over four evenings. On June 18 and 19, as well as June 25 and 26, 2026, visitors can look forward to live music, culinary offerings, and a relaxed festival atmosphere right in the heart of Alt-Saarbrücken.
The festival invites students, neighbors, and anyone interested to rediscover the campus as a place of encounter, culture, and community. Admission is free.
By students, for the city
alt_sommer is being developed as part of the “Project in the Cultural Economy” module of the Master’s program in Cultural Management. The students independently develop, organize, and execute the festival—from program planning and marketing to sponsorship, as well as technical aspects, logistics, and evaluation. The festival builds on the success of last year’s “Sommerstraßen” and deliberately focuses on an accessible, urban cultural format. The emphasis is on encounters, local culture, and shared summer evenings in a special atmosphere.
