Dr.-Ing. Christian Cramer will become the new professor of automotive engineering, specializing in vehicle dynamics and chassis systems, in the School of Engineering, effective October 1, 2026. He will succeed Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Tiemann.
Prof. Cramer studied mechanical engineering at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover, where he also earned his Dr.-Ing. degree in 2023. In 2024, he was awarded the Dr. Jürgen Ulderup Prize for his outstanding doctoral work.
Since 2012, Prof. Cramer has worked in research and development at Continental Reifen Deutschland GmbH, most recently as Senior Engineer for Vehicle Dynamics Testing & Simulation. His areas of expertise lie particularly in vehicle dynamics, tire-road interaction, and testing and simulation methods. In addition, he has many years of teaching experience and has served, among other roles, as a lecturer at Leibniz University Hannover.
With his expertise in industrial research and development as well as in teaching, Christian Cramer combines in-depth practical experience in automotive engineering with current issues in research and science, and will contribute this expertise to teaching and research at htw saar in the future.
