The admission requirements to study at our university differ from national to international students who don't have a German university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung).
For international students
All applicants who wish to undertake full-time studies at our university need to fulfil certain admission requirements. In addition to providing evidence of a recognized higher-education entrance qualification, international applicants must also demonstrate adequate proficiency in German. The language of instruction in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs is either exclusively or predominantly German.
German language proficiency
International applicants who hold an appropriate higher-education entrance qualification will also need to meet the minimum language proficiency requirements for their intended degree program (see overview of language requirements). Applicants may demonstrate adequate proficiency in German by submitting one of the following qualifications:
- TestDaF
- Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH – German language proficiency test for foreign applicants seeking admission to higher education) or the German language section of the Academic Assessment Test (FSP)
- KMK Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD – KMK German Language Diploma), Level 2
- Goethe-Institut Kleines / Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (GI KSD or GSD exams)
- Goethe-Zertifikat C1 or Goethe-Zertifikat C2
- Certification that the applicant attended a German-speaking school abroad
- A school-leaving certificate equivalent to the German higher education entrance qualification
- Diploma "telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule"
Exceptions:
For the Master’s degree program ‘International Management’, which is held in English, the following German language requirements apply:
- Goethe-Zertifikat B1
- Zertifikat Deutsch / telc Deutsch B1
- DTZ (German Test for Immigrants, minimum required grade: B1)
- KMK Deutsches Sprachdiplom (Level 1, DSD I)
- or any higher-level certificate from Goethe-Institut or telc or TestDa
Please note that this applies ONLY to the M.A. program ‘International Management’.
