In 2025, the third round of a new three-week summer school programme has been offered at htw as a cooperation between the team for Intercultural Management and German as a foreign language and the International Office. The best message: We will be back in 2026!
From 16 June until 04 July 2025, participants had the opportunity to discover Saarbrucken, the Greater Region, fascinating lectures on current topics, the German language and interesting companies from different branches in the area. There will be a blog post coming soon!
Lectures will be held in English and an interactive German intensive course is mandatory in this 5 ECTS summer school program - and of course, various activities like sightseeing, sports, cultural evenings and a local BBQ will be offered, too!
The program is open for participants from partner universities as well as for interested freemovers from all over the world.
Meanwhile, you can find a summary of the program, including information on housing and fees, via German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) via this link: DAAD description
You have any questions? Please read the information provided via the DAAD website first and then please feel free to send a message in English, French or German to summer-immersion @ htwsaar .de.
Save the date: The International Summer School 2026 will be happening from 15/06/2026 until 03/07/2026. Applications will be accepted from 01/09/2025 until 15/02/2026.
When participating in our summer school program, you may expect:
Special lectures in English
Experts from industry and professors of engineering and business will showcase their fields of expertise from the German perspective. By exploring current topics, you will get up-to-date sneak peaks into German engineering and management.
Company visits
You will discover leading companies in the region through interactive tours. These might include global players such as Hager, Villeroy & Boch and Saarstahl. Take the opportunity to connect with your potential employers and discover the portfolio of the regional job market. Feel free to bring along your CV to get in touch with the HR unit after the tours.
German courses
In addition to the lectures and company tours, you will benefit from an intensive German language course consisting of ten teaching hours per week offered at introductory or advanced level (A0/A1 or B1 to C1). Learn about job-specific vocabulary and related topics like how to write your CV to impress German companies!
Intercultural communication
You will dive into the German working culture in a dense course of four teaching hours per week. You will focus on work and business cultures like organisational and team cultures frequently found in German companies and be introduced to the basics of communication cultures in professional and private environments. Our approach is learner-centred and follows effective training methods.
Every week, the course consists of 20 hours (six hours of lectures, 10 hours of German, four hours of intercultural communication) as well as company tours and extracurricular activities. Participants will receive a certificate with 5 ECTS at the end of their successful stay. For university coordinators, please find the module description by following this link.
