Support for fleet scheduling taking into account the new EU Working Time Directive

The introduction of the new EU directive on driving times and rest periods for professional drivers in road haulage in April 2007 has had a significant impact on driver scheduling and route planning.

To support scheduling under the new working time regulations, the Saarland University of Applied Sciences and J.S. Logistik AG are cooperating in the "UFAZ" project

The project pursues the following objectives

• Conception of a key figure system for the evaluation of route plans.
• Analysis of improvement potential for scheduling.
• Development of a software prototype for the automatic evaluation of route plans.
• Expansion of existing optimization models for route planning, taking into account the new EU directive.
