At htw saar, your safety is our top priority. We give you specific recommendations for action, provide central emergency numbers and present all relevant contact points and emergency plans. If you take action, stay calm and get help in an emergency, you will protect yourself and others - and help to ensure that our campus remains a safe place.

Behavior in an emergency

Keep calm.

Report a fire:
→ Activate the manual call point or call 112
The five Ws in an emergency call:

  1. Who is calling?
  2. What hashappened?
  3. Where hasit happened?
  4. How manypeople are affected?
  5. Wait forfurther questions!

→ Also inform housekeeping / on-call service

Get to safety:

→ Take endangered persons with you, close doors
→ Leave building via marked escape routes
→ Go to assembly point
→ Do not use elevator
→ Wait for instructions

Only attempt to extinguish if there is little danger to yourself:
→ Use fire extinguisher, wall hydrant or fire hose

Do not communicate with the perpetrators.

Keep calm.
Get to safety:
→ Stay inside or go to the room, close and barricade doors
→ Darken windows, mute cell phone
→ Move away from windows and doors!
→
→ Lay down on the floor and keep quiet
→ Wait for the police to evacuate
Only flee if there is little risk.


Report an amok

→ Call 110
→ Who is reporting?
→ What has happened (number of perpetrators, weapons, location)?
→ Where has it happened (building, floor, room)?
→ Wait for questions!

→ Secure the accident site
→ Treat the injured
→ Follow instructions

IT security incidents and data protection breaches can occur at any time.
We have compiled the most important information for you so that you can react quickly and correctly.

Typical IT emergencies

  • You receive a suspicious email (e.g. phishing attempt)
  • Your device shows signs of a malicious program
  • You notice unusual system activity
  • You discover unauthorized access to personal data

How to act in an IT emergency

  • Do not forward the suspicious email and do not click on any links or attachments.

  • Do not switch off the device yourself or disconnect it from the network unless you have consulted the IT service.

The current emergency plans are displayed in the buildings. Please check the escape routes and assembly points in your area regularly.

FAQ Security on campus

Do not hang up immediately.
Stay on the phone and explain to the control center that it was an accident.
An unanswered emergency call is considered an emergency.
This will help you avoid unnecessary calls.

All escape routes are marked with green signs.
You will find escape and rescue plans on every building door and in all corridors, showing you the nearest exit and assembly point.

The locations are listed on the notices in the corridors and rooms.
Familiarize yourself with these locations before an emergency occurs.

Only if you do not put yourself in danger.

If the fire is small and controllable and the escape route remains clear.

If you feel unsafe or the fire is already larger: leave the building immediately and call the fire department on 112.

Safety always comes before attempting to extinguish a fire.

In acute threatening situations: call the police on 110.
The following applies: take threats seriously, act early and get support.

Familiarize yourself with the escape routes and assembly points in your building.

  • Find out where the nearest fire extinguisher and first aid kit are located.
  • Save the number of the building services and the on-call service in your cell phone.
  • Take part in the first aid courses or safety training courses offered by htw saar.
