Supporting teachers to strengthen new forms of teaching and learning

htw saar is guided by the principle of competence-oriented teaching and learning. It understands the process of teaching and learning as a transfer of skills, not (only) as a transfer of information. Teachers at htw saar design their courses to be as practice-oriented as possible. It promotes teamwork and social skills among students, which are of great importance in any professional life. The idea of "service learning" (learning through commitment to society) is used throughout the university and has been very well received. The use of digital forms of learning and blended learning formats is promoted in a variety of ways. Teachers at htw saar receive comprehensive support from the responsible service center when setting up corresponding offers.

The htw saar offers practice-oriented knowledge transfer in a variety of cooperations with companies from the Saarland. Our graduates are optimally prepared for the job market in their respective fields. Practical assignments during their studies, teaching projects in cooperation with companies and close contacts between lecturers and industry guarantee this.

Didactic training for teaching staff

A wide-ranging seminar program for teaching staff on issues of university didactics and eLearning enables lecturers to receive targeted further training. This is supplemented by corresponding certificates.

Quality assurance

A concept for the quality management of studies and teaching combines the various processes, infrastructure and legal regulations into a control loop that guarantees the long-term further development of teaching. The continuous evaluation of courses has been firmly established at htw saar for years. The results are professionally evaluated and used to improve the quality of teaching. The majority of degree programs at htw saar have been successfully accredited.

Internationalization

A large number of partnerships with foreign universities enable a high level of mobility for our students and teaching staff. An increasing number of English-language courses also make htw saar attractive for foreign students. The Franco-German University Institute ( DFHI/ISFATES) enables bilingual studies in business administration, electrical engineering, logistics and computer science, as well as European construction management and mechanical engineering.

Continuing Education Center Saar (CEC Saar) at the htw saar

htw saar is committed to lifelong learning. CEC Saar's practice-oriented and part-time degree programs open up new perspectives in the profession. They prepare participants to take on more demanding tasks or to qualify for positions with management responsibility.
