Software and literature resources for university employees

In order to make software available to our students at a reasonable price, the htw saar has several campus license agreements. Htw saar members can currently use the following software offerings free of charge or at special rates.
  

• "All-you-can-read" - HERDT Publishing House

• The htw saar has concluded a campus contract with the HERDT publishing house in cooperation with the Saarland University. This contract enables all of our students and employees to use all of the ebooks offered by HERDT, free of charge.
• Access to the e-books is controlled by way of an IP address, i.e. logging into the portal only works from a computer at the htw saar or from the university network. (However, the selected e-books can be downloaded as a PDF.)
• The e-books are personalized, so you will have to register once on the following portal for access:

Adobe Creative Cloud for Enterprise

Students can purchase discounted Adobe products (and various other products from other vendors) via the software portal . You can find the products under different headings in the software portal:

Camtasia Studio and Snagit

Camtasia is a powerful but easy-to-use software tool for filming screen content and post-processing it.
Snagit is especially suitable for the professional creation and post-processing of screenshots.

To do so, you will need to create a customer account (register directly in the online store itself). After registration, activate the account. To do so, simply fill out the activation request (appears during registration) and send your current enrolment certificate (upload it directly or send it by email). Your account should be activated within approximately 3 business days.

Colourbox

The htw saar now has Colourbox Educational! For you, that means full access to over 15 million images, illustrations and videos, plus 30 free downloads per month!

And here's how to start:

1. Go to colorbox.com/education
2. Go to the "Dein Ausbildungs-Code?” button, enter the code* and click "Send".
3. Select whether you are a student or teacher.
4. Fill out the form and you’re done!

Use your downloads for:

• Seminar and term papers
• Course and teaching material
• Presentations and talks

Do not use your downloads for:

• Commercial use
• Private purposes
• Sharing your courses, presentations, etc. publicly

 

MS Office 365 ProPlus

By joining the nationwide Microsoft framework agreement for universities and colleges, the htw saar benefits from a Microsoft rental agreement for the entire campus (EES). The shopping cart contains MS Office 365 ProPlus. Due to the fact that the entire university is licensed, htw saar students and employees can also use this form of Office virtually free of charge. The only annual charge is a provisioning fee of 4.99 euros.The rights of use remain in effect as long as the htw saar maintains and finances this rental agreement.

MS Windows 10

WINDOWS 10 Education - Free for students

Every student who booked the use of the Office 365 Pro Plus package via the portal https://bildung365.de can obtain a Windows10 license at no additional cost. This offer is valid for students only.
The Windows 10 license can be installed on one device and is not time-limited. It does not need to be renewed every year.

Think-Cell

think-cell is an add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint that allows you to create complex diagrams, such as line, bar, waterfall, Mekko and Gantt charts quickly and easily. The uniform design of all of the diagrams guarantees an accurate and professional look. It also allows you to automatically create, maintain and manage agendas and tables of content.

The current version of think-cell can be downloaded free of charge from the manufacturer's website. To do so, please enter your email address (WHZ) on the following page:

After you have downloaded and installed the software, you will be asked for your license key the next time you start Microsoft PowerPoint. Simply copy the key into the license dialog.
