htw saar card & Semesterticket

Once you are fully enrolled, you will receive your own htw saar student ID card with your name, enrollment number (example: 3841231), and library number (example: 505032682).

The student card of htw saar is a multifunctional card that is provided to all students of the Saarland University of Applied Sciences. The card serves as an official identification document, for example during exams, and enables access to various services and facilities of the university.

Functions of the HTW Saar card:

Official student ID: The card serves as an official proof of enrollment at htw saar and must be presented if required.
Library card: The student card entitles you to use the libraries of htw saar.
Print and copy card: With the student card, students can print and copy at the printers and copiers of the university.
Mensa card: The student card can be used as a cashless payment method in the htw saar canteens, provided it has been loaded with funds via EC card and electronic direct debit procedure (ELV) beforehand. The machines to do so can be found near the canteens.
Access card: The student card can enable access to various facilities of htw saar, such as laboratories or computer rooms.
Public transportation ticket (=Semesterticket): The fee for your semester ticket is included in your semester contribution. The semester ticket entitles students to use the means of transport of the saarVV (Saarland Transport Association) throughout Saarland free of charge (except for ICE). Students must carry and present their htw saar card as a ticket in the vehicles of the saarVV.
Discounted admission: By presenting your card in various institutions, you can get a student discount. For example, in theaters, cinemas, museums, or sports facilities.
Valid throughout your studies: The htw saar card is not discarded at the end of the semester but accompanies you throughout your entire studies. However, the card must be validated with the validation machine each semester to update the validity period and the semester ticket for public transportation. An image of a validation machine is shown below. You can find these machines near the canteens.

If you have lost your card, you must report the loss to the Student Secretariat. You will then receive a new card directly after paying an expense allowance.
