Cat 1 a) STW/WH - Single apartment: 16m², furnished with a cupboard, divan bed with storage drawer, shelving, table, chest of drawers, chairs, kitchenette with wall cabinet, small en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet, and washbasin. Rent: € 355 p.m. (including a monthly utility charge for warm/cold water, heating, electricity, etc). The refundable security deposit* is € 636 (excluding a small service fee). 

Cat 1 b) STW/WH - Flat share in double apartment (overall size: 32m²): Small single room: 11m², furnished as above with kitchenette and small bathroom to share with 1 other student (same gender match). Rent: € 309 p.m. (including a monthly utility charge for warm/cold water, heating, electricity, etc). The refundable security deposit* is € 498 (excluding a small service fee).

Cat 1 c) STW/WH - Flat share in double apartment (overall size: 32m²): Bigger single room: 16m², furnished as above with kitchenette and small bathroom to share with 1 other student (same gender match). Rent: € 356 p.m. (including a monthly utility charge for warm/cold water, heating, electricity, etc). The refundable security deposit* is € 639 (excluding a small service fee).

Information applicable to all categories of the STW Waldhaus student residential complex:
Address: Waldhausweg 15-21, 66123 Saarbrücken 
Location: about 300m walking distance from the htw saar Business School (Campus Rotenbühl), at 3,5 km distance/10 min bus ride from the city centre and at 5 km/20 min by bus from Campus Alt-Saarbrücken (School of Engineering). 
All flats and apartments are equipped with a direct internet connection. 
The hall of residence also has its own satellite dish.

• FIXED rental period for 6 months
• The deposit and the rent for the first month must be transferred to the STW bank account BEFORE your arrival! 
• Refundable security deposit: to this will be added a service fee of 25,00€ which will not be returned after moving out
• INCLUDED in the rent: internet access
• NOT included: mattress, duvet, pillows, bed linen. Students can purchase this from the janitor before their arrival. If the mattress is in good conditions, the janitor may leave it from the former tenant if desired

The payment of this fee is required by law (similar to a tax) regardless of whether you actually use these services or not

• The student hall of residence offers various facilities for students at basement and sub-basement levels: TV rooms, table-tennis room, photographic dark room, fitness studio, music room, room for group work, bar, bike lockup, several PCs with internet access, public card phones, three elevators.

Duration of rental contract for both types: 6 months -> In winter semesters: from 1 Apr to 30 Sep, in summer semesters: from 1 Oct to 31 Mar. EXTENSION of the rental period is NOT possible!!! All students who study for 12 months at htw saar should start searching for a new accommodation in Dec/Jan/Feb or Jun/Jul/Aug (including double degree students)!
Start of rental period for both types: Typically 1 Apr or 1 Oct (see above). Upon request and availability, students may start the rental contract one month earlier (either on 1 Sep or on 1 Mar).
End of rental period for both types: Typically 31 Mar or 30 Sep (see above). Shortening the rental period and moving out 1 month earlier may be possible if the next tenant agrees to move in earlier. A cancellation notice before the end of the contract is not required.

Cat 2 b) STW/Guck - Flat share in double apartment (overall size: between 29m² and 38m²): Single room: 11m², furnished as above with kitchenette and small bathroom to share with 1 other student (same gender match). Rent: € 252 p.m. (including a monthly utility charge for warm/cold water, heating, electricity, etc). The refundable security deposit* is € 405.

Address: Richard-Wagner-Straße 91, 66125 Saarbrücken-Dudweiler.
Location: about 5km/20 min by bus from the htw saar Business School (Campus Rotenbühl), at 8 km distance/30 min bus ride from the city centre and at 12 km distance/35 min by bus from Campus Alt-Saarbrücken (School of Engineering).
The Guckelsberg Hall of Residence is situated in an idyllic, tranquil setting. The rooftop terrace can be used by all residents and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. All rooms and flats are equipped with a direct internet connection and a satellite television point.

The ESG student hall of residence is run by the Protestant student community Saarbrücken. It is open to all religious denominations and the interreligious and intercultural dialogue is an important part of the ESG's profile. The community offers a wide range of activities, thus the residence hall provides common rooms for workshops, for studying, for reading and watching television. The residence is divided into floors with nine units each that share between them an open plan kitchen as well as the 2 W.C. and shower rooms. The premises have recently been entirely renovated. The building is located at Waldhausweg 7 in 66123 Saarbrücken within a 50 m walking distance to the htw saar Campus ‘Rotenbühl’ (Business School) and about 4 km by bus to the htw saar Campus ‘Alt- Saarbrücken’ (Schools of Engineering and department of Civil Engineering).

Cat. 3) ESG - Individual single room on floor with shared bathrooms and kitchen (female and male students on one floor):

Basic information: 

• Standard category of single rooms (between ca. 10 to 14m²) with wash-basin, the open plan kitchen and the 2 W.C. and shower rooms are shared with 8 other students.
• Rent: between € 309 and € 365 p.m. (including a monthly utility charge for warm/cold water, heating, electricity, etc.). The refundable security deposit amounts to € 300
• Fixed rental period: 6 months (the student has the option to find themselves a sublet for the room, if they need to leave earlier – however they remain responsible for the room for the full duration of the contract)
• Functional furniture including bed, mattress, shelves, desk and chair
• Fully equipped kitchen with tableware, pots and pans, hot plates and refrigerator, shared with 8 other students
• NOT included: pillow, duvet, blankets, bed linen/sheets and towels
• Internet access included in the rent
• Coin-operated washing machines
• Some shopping facilities in the neighbourhood of ‘Rotenbühl’ (bakery, greengrocer, supermarket)
• Licence fee for all public service broadcasting programs included in the rent

Students can find themselves a sublet  after the end of the lecture period if they need to leave Saarbrücken before this stipulated end date. They however remain responsible for the rental contract and have to pay the rent till the official end date of the contract. NO pets allowed!The municipal real estate company SGS (Saarbrücker gemeinnützige Siedlungsgesellschaft/Immobiliengruppe Saarbrücken) offers single rooms with private ensuite bathroom and shared kitchen for 4 people in the student residence hall ‘Carl-Duisberg-Haus’. It is located at Mecklenburgring 1 in 66121 Saarbrücken (Eschberg) at about 3,5 km distance/15 min by bus to the htw saar Campus ‘Rotenbühl’ (Business School), and about 35 min by bus to the htw saar Campus ‘Alt-Saarbrücken’ (School of Engineering and department of Civil Engineering). The bus stop is in front of the building.

Basic information: individual room in unit of 4 students with shared kitchen

• Individual room (15m²) with private ensuite bathroom, the room is part of a small unit of 4 students; each group is sharing a common-room with a fully furnished kitchen and a flat-screen TV
• Rent: € 400 p.m. (including a monthly utility charge for warm/cold water, heating, electricity, etc). The refundable security deposit is € 600
• Each room is equipped with an individual bathroom with toilet and shower
• Minimum rental period: 3 months, cancellation period (upon written notice): 4 weeks

Moving out (after the min. rental period of 3 months) requires a written cancellation note that needs to be sent to the manager one month in advance.

Only for exchange students who stay for an entire study year (12 months) in Saarbrücken!!!
Very centrally located, functional furnished single (some few double) apartments, all fully euipped with individual bathroom and kitchenette. 1,4km distance to the htw saar Campus ‘Rotenbühl’ (Business School) and 2,2km to the htw saar Campus ‘Alt-Saarbrücken’ (Schools of Engineering and department of Civil Engineering). 5 min by bus to the city centre.

The private company ‘GBS Studentenwohnungen Saarbrücken GmbH’ runs a student residence hall with functional furnished apartments, all fully equipped with individual bathroom and kitchen. The buildings are located at Sulzbachstraße 53, Dudweilerstraße 93 and Försterstraße 70 in 66111 Saarbrücken within a 1,4km distance to the htw saar Campus ‘Rotenbühl’ (Business School) and 2,2km to the htw saar Campus ‘Alt-Saarbrücken’ (Schools of Engineering and department of Civil Engineering).

Some characteristics:

The monthly utility charge is based on average monthly use of utilities. At the end of each billing period (once a year) the final bill for the utility charges is calculated. B. Private lodgings / Flat or house shares

A room in a private house will generally be furnished, whereas single apartments or rooms in a shared student flat or house (known in German as a “WG”, meaning “Wohngemeinschaft”) will generally be unfurnished. Private apartments, a room in private lodgings or in a shared flat or house currently costs between appr. € 290 and € 800 a month.
These offers are usually posted online, or in the local newspapers and blackboards of the universities.
