The Future - Transportation - Society (FTS) competence center brings together htw saar's expertise in the fields of society, economics, technology and transport in the context of future mobility.
Climate change poses an immense transformational challenge to our society today. In order to avoid average warming of well over 2 degrees in the coming decades, transportation must also make a significant contribution. The key to this lies on the one hand in technical innovations (alternative drives and infrastructures, digital networking), while on the other hand this structural and cultural change must also be shaped economically in such a way that individual and social support is available. The resulting interdisciplinary research questions form the scientific subject of the Competence Center FTS, which brings together expertise from all four faculties of htw saar.
The interdisciplinary field of the future, society and transportation opens up the opportunity for cooperation across traditional disciplinary boundaries. The aim of the FTS is to shape the future technologically and to include society and people as relevant subjects of change in the development.
The FTS will map the value chain of transportation - traffic - technology - networking, among other things. The optimization of road traffic, traffic flow and traffic efficiency in urban and rural areas is only possible by fully mapping the value chain. The htw saar competence center is pursuing this goal, because improving traffic efficiency through precise and targeted information distribution enriches traffic management and helps to stabilize road traffic in both freight and private transport in the long term.
