The Interreg project FCU: A network of university continuing education in the Greater Region
The European Greater Region Saar-Lor-Lux-Rhineland-Palatinate-Wallonia has undergone far-reaching changes in recent years and has developed from an industrial society to a service economy.
As a result, the needs of companies with regard to employee qualifications have also changed, and skills development and further training have become essential elements for employers and employees in the Greater Region.
The idea of the FCU project "Formation Continue Universitaire Grande Region/University Continuing Education in the Greater Region" is based on the foundation of a network of higher education institutions in the Greater Region in the field of university continuing education. The aim is structured cooperation and pooling of expertise in the development of competitive continuing education programs adapted to the needs of the Greater Region.
The healthcare and logistics sectors were identified as pilot sectors on the basis of their importance for the Greater Region and the areas of expertise of the institutions involved in the project.
The logistics sector in particular represents a geographical center on the European map in the Greater Region and is therefore particularly suitable for model studies.
The profession of a logistician is difficult to define, as new company focuses constantly require different job profiles. The task of the logistics working group is to use interviews in companies in the Greater Region to find out about these job descriptions and to keep an eye on the need for further training. It is expected that a heterogeneous picture of the Greater Region will emerge, as the complexity of the tasks and the global nature of the sector determine day-to-day business.
