Implementation of an automated electric shuttle bus in cross-border traffic to improve the mobility of commuters.
Project description
The mobility of the future should not only be sustainable and economical, but it must also lead to an improvement in the overall traffic situation and also people with limited mobility (older but also young adults). In addition to e-cars and car-sharing concepts, public transport services also play an important role and can become more attractive in the future with innovative concepts.
Particularly in the Greater Region - Saarland-Lorraine-Luxembourg-Rhineland-Palatinate and Wallonia - with over 230,000 commuters and trainees, concrete solutions to improve mobility are essential to ensure that the integrated labor market can continue to develop.
The TERMINAL (AuTomated ElectRic Minibus INterregionAL) project will initially examine the overall framework conditions (legal, technical, infrastructural and socio-economic) for the implementation of a highly automated electric bus. In a second phase, prototype implementations will be carried out on two selected routes. Based on the evaluation of technical data and user surveys, profitability analyses will be carried out, new mobility models developed and recommendations for action derived.
