The "Digitalization in Production Test Field" is at the heart of Industry 4.0 research at CDI@htwsaar. Here, interdisciplinary research groups conduct research on various topics related to smart manufacturing.
The platform consists of a flexible number of stations for manufacturing, machining, and assembly processes, which are connected in a free network structure with various stationary and mobile transport systems. In addition to integrating various research projects in both hardware and software, the test field is also available for training, education, and continuing education programs for (Chinese) universities and companies.
The globalization of production processes is to be addressed in particular through the establishment of a “Twin Lab structure,” which will connect the laboratory sites in China and Saarbrücken in real time in the future.
