Residence Permit

If you are from a country that is not a member of the European Union (excluding Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway) and you entered Germany on a student visa, you must apply for a residence permit no later than one month before your visa expires. The Central Immigration Office in Lebach is responsible for processing these applications. The address is:

Please request an appointment at least 1 month before your visa or current residence permit expires, preferably in writing via email. This will serve as proof that you have done everything possible to secure an appointment in a timely manner.

You must bring the following documents with you to your appointment:

•  Passport with a valid entry visa
• A recent biometric passport photo (no older than 6 months)
• Your enrollment certificate from htw saar for the current semester and, if possible, for the next semester
• Proof of financial support (this usually must already be submitted when applying for the visa)
• Proof of health insurance
• Rental agreement
• Money to cover the fee (€100)
