Hours of Operation

The available time slots for booking the VR Arena depend on the project requirements and can be found in the booking calendar.

VR Arena on TV

The VR Arena is also attracting attention on television: Saarländischer Rundfunk visited the facility at the beginning of the year and reported on the project.

The segment shows how immersive technologies are being used in teaching and what new learning formats are emerging as a result.

The htw saar’sVRArena also caught the attention of the regional press: On February 5, the Saarbrücker Zeitung was on site to get a firsthand look at the innovative learning environment.

The focus was on the new opportunities for using virtual reality to prepare students for future work environments in a practical way.

The project is funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education through the Freiraum 2025 program.

  • Duration: April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2027
  • Funding: Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education Teaching
  • Focus: Developing digital skills and innovative teaching with a focus on VR/AR, as well as the sustainable development of skills and infrastructure.
  • Goal: Following the pilot phase, the VR Arena is intended to be permanently established as an evidence-based infrastructure for academic studies, teaching, and continuing education.

VR Headset Loan Service

The VR Arena provides VR headsets for academic studies, teaching, and projects.
Students and staff can borrow the devices and use them even outside the university.

Loans are arranged in advance through the VR-Arena team. To do so, either send an email to vr-arenanoSpam@noSpamhtwsaarnoSpam.de or book an appointment via the booking calendar.
Pickup and return are arranged on an individual basis.

Use of the equipment is subject to the VR-Arena’s terms and conditions for rentals.

Die VR-Arena befindet sich am Campus Alt-Saarbrücken in Gebäude 3, 3.OG, Raum 3405. Der Raum ist der ehemalige Senatssaal und befindet sich hinter der alten Mensa.

The VR-Arena is located on the Alt-Saarbrücken campus in Building 3, 3rd floor, Room 3405. The room is the former Senate Hall and is located behind the old cafeteria.

Alternatively, the VR Arena can also be reached via the stairwell at the very end of the building.

Directions to the Rotenbühl Campus

The VR Arena is located on the Rotenbühl Campus in Building D, Room D-1-01
