3Klang Campus Radio is aimed at listeners interested in culture—primarily the student bodies of the participating universities. In addition to covering campus life, art, and culture, 3Klang Campus Radio focuses on music education as part of its mission. The station offers a diverse radio program, organized by genre, that aims to broadcast a variety of formats representing different styles of music and sound art—presented in an accessible manner—to the public via the web radio.
The individual genres, which correspond to the musical genres offered at the HfM (and the HBK) and are therefore also to be thematically represented on 3Klang Campus Radio, are: classical music from the Renaissance to so-called “moderate modernism”; film music; jazz; new/experimental music; sound art; radio plays/spoken word. Each format offers the opportunity for personalized presentation through introductions and closings by hosts drawn from the group of participants (students and faculty). In contrast, there are formats dedicated solely to classical music or cultural news from the region.
The CampusLive format is designed to give each of the universities participating in the “Cultural Management” program airtime to report on campus life and highlight exams, art openings, concerts, new appointments, etc., in individual segments.
Anyone who’d like to see how radio is made is welcome to stop by the 3Klang studio in the Haus des Wissens. Our studio is located there in room 11.00.06.
Or maybe you’d even like to get involved yourself?
To bring the campus radio station to life, we’re looking for dedicated and creative students from all academic disciplines.
Possible tasks would include, for example, writing broadcast scripts and, if necessary, presenting them yourself, conducting interviews, developing updates to existing program formats, promoting the campus radio station to the public, conducting surveys to improve the quality of the radio program and incorporating the findings into the various broadcast formats, mastering and applying the technical requirements for setting up an internet radio service, producing regional magazine segments, monitoring regional events, and much more. This can currently also be done online.
