General Timeline for Applications at htw saar:
Main Procedure
Admission or rejection letters for bachelor's degree programs starting in the winter semester are typically sent out at the end of July/early August for the winter semester and at the end of January/early Febuary for the summer semester. The admission letters in the main procedure usually include a deadline of 3 weeks within which enrollment must be completed.
Waiting List Procedure
In late August/early September, the vacant study places from the main procedure are reassigned. Applicants who were rejected in the main procedure automatically participate in the waiting list procedure. Here as well, admitted applicants must enroll within a deadline of approximately 3 weeks.
Second Waiting List Procedure
If there are still available capacities by the end of September for the winter semester or end of March for the summer semester, the study places not filled in the first waiting list procedure are assigned in another waiting list procedure.
Second Applications
If there are still vacant study places after the second waiting list procedure, they will be allocated to those applicants who submitted a second application by the end of the application period for the respective degree program and whose first application was definitively rejected.
Lottery Procedure
If all first and second applications have been processed and there are still available places, new applications can be submitted after the second waiting list procedure.
If the number of applications submitted at that time is greater than the number of available study places, a lottery will be held among the submitted applications.
Enrollment
If you have been assigned a study place during the admission process, you must enroll in the next step. The admission letter does not count as enrollment!
Enrollment can be done through the SIM portal. Please note the enrollment deadlines stated in the admission letter!
With enrollment, the social contribution and semester ticket fees also become due. The amount and the banking details for the transfer can be found by clicking on the application tile in the SIM application portal under the tab “Fees”.
