You can find the current application deadlines on the following page: https://www.htwsaar.de/studium-und-lehre/studienangebot/studiengaenge/betriebswirtschaft-berufsbegleitend

The application is made online. You must first register and then follow the instructions in the portal. You can easily upload the necessary documents online. Certified copies or originals must be submitted at the earliest at the time of matriculation.

Yes, anyone can study in Saarland without a (Fach-)Abitur if they have 3 years of professional experience: https: //www.htwsaar.de/studium/bewerbung/probestudium?searchterm=probestudium. Applicants must apply before April 1 and will only be admitted to the trial course.

All vocational training courses that deal with the subject area of business administration are considered relevant. In general, however, training from a different subject area is also recognized, provided that a large proportion of the content of the training nevertheless dealt with business management topics. If, as in the last case, you have no training in business administration, you should emphasize the business training content in your application. You should also include additional training, courses, further training, etc. that have dealt with business administration in your application, as these can also be taken into account.

In special cases, admission without completed vocational training can be granted on application if the applicant has at least three years of relevant professional experience, has attended further training measures during this time that provide an equivalent level of competence to relevant vocational training and is currently working in a position that requires the level of competence of an employee with vocational training. Applications are reviewed by the Director of Studies and the Examination Board.

After application and allocation of a study place, matriculation (enrolment) is carried out by the student and not by the company, as there is no relationship between the company and htw saar. The application form (enrollment application) is sent together with the letter of admission. In addition, the fees and the semester contribution must be paid. (Amount and account details for the transfer can be found in the letter of admission).

The fees are usually paid by the student, but individual arrangements can be agreed. For example, the fees can be paid by the company or proportionately by both (company and student).

The semester fees are €900 plus semester contribution (social contribution and semester ticket). In the 2019/2020 winter semester, the semester fee was € 217.
The semester ticket entitles students to use the saarVV (Saarland Transport Association) free of charge. They must carry and show the htw saar card, which they receive when enrolling at htw saar, as a ticket on saarVV public transport. The htw saar-Card replaces other tickets offered by saarVV. With the semester ticket you can use all buses and local trains (RB, RE and Saarbahn) in Saarland free of charge. The semester ticket is also valid for journeys on the Saarbahn to Saarguemines.

If you are a part-time student, you can do without the semester ticket. You can then have the costs paid reimbursed. Further information on refunds can be found at https://www.asta-htw.de/semesterticket.

Yes, the fees can also be paid monthly. If students prefer a monthly payment rhythm, this is possible. For further questions in this regard, please contact the CEC Saar secretariat: cecsaar@htwsaar.de or here.

Unfortunately, the part-time Bachelor's degree program is not eligible for funding under BAföG. According to the current legal situation, this is a part-time course which cannot be funded in accordance with § 2 Para. 5 Sentence 1 in conjunction with BAföG VwV 2.5.2.

Yes, employees in Saarland are entitled to up to 6 days' leave per year for professional or political training. Employees of the federal government are exempt. The leave of absence is granted on condition that the beneficiary contributes the same amount of non-working time and has been with the company for at least 12 months. Non-working time can be vacation, overtime or non-working days. One-day events are also eligible for time off. In this case, employees and employers must each contribute half a day. For part-time employees, the amount of time off is reduced in line with the level of employment. Employees must notify the employer of their participation in an educational event at least 6 weeks before the start of the event. The employer must provide feedback at least 2 weeks before the start of the event. The entitlement to time off can be carried over to the following year with the employer's consent in order to take part in a longer training event.

There is no "triangular contract" between the company, htw saar and the student. The student only has a "contract" with htw saar and the employment contract with the company. There is no contractual cooperation between htw saar and the company.

The weekly working hours can be freely agreed between the student and the company. There are no regulations on this from htw saar, only a maximum of 50% part-time employment is recommended. The student and the company should bear in mind that 100% or full-time employment makes little sense. The student is exposed to the double burden of studying and working and cannot perform to their full potential either at university or at work without appropriate breaks. The experience of htw saar confirms this.

Remuneration is freely negotiable between the company and the student. In general, all employment contract regulations are at the discretion of the company and the student. However, care should be taken to ensure that the student's work is fairly remunerated, as they are fully trained employees and not working students.

In the best case scenario, you will have a job; if not, all companies that offer a relevant employment contract and agree to part-time studies will be considered. The student must apply to the respective company and present an employment contract that has not been terminated before commencing the course. As there is no contractual obligation between htw saar and the company, the student is responsible for finding a company or job. If you have any questions regarding cooperating companies, please contact the Practice Department.

The course does not have to be discontinued, but can be continued. It is then possible for the student to look for another company with whose cooperation the studies can be continued. An employment contract that has not been terminated is only an admission requirement at the time of commencement of studies. If you receive notice of termination at a later date (during your studies), you may continue your studies.

If you have any further questions about the course, please contact the Director of Studies, Prof. Dr. Christoph Freichel, christoph.freichel@htwsaar.de
