As a manager at our university, together with the corresponding tools, you are the most important pillar for promoting personnel development and implementing measures in this area. In order to provide you with the best possible support in your demanding tasks, htw saar has developed a comprehensive range of support in the central areas.

The offer is modular and is divided into the following topics:

Internal qualification (iQ) and personnel development seminars

In order to provide you with the best possible support in your field of activity, iQ regularly offers seminars specifically for managers.

Exchange of experience

As a new manager, we support you in settling into your new role with suitable seminars. As part of this, various topics, current problems or upcoming challenges are discussed in the form of input presentations.

New as a manager

We support new managers with suitable seminars as they settle into their new role. These are designed to help them deal with their new tasks more easily.

The HR Development team advises you on questions relating to day-to-day management and works with you to develop ideas and measures for your team on topics such as

  • Training opportunities for you and your employees
  • Team development and team days
  • Conflicts within the team or at management level.

We will discuss what you can do yourself, what support HR Development can offer and which suitable instrument (coaching, team development, etc.) would be useful.

In addition to the in-house offers, we offer you the opportunity to attend external seminars individually tailored to your needs and wishes as part of strategic personnel development. The HR department is in close contact with the faculties.

Coaching

Personnel Development arranges coaching sessions. It determines the need and the main topics. Coaches are suggested via a coaching pool. After the initial contact and an introductory meeting to discuss needs and content, you decide for yourself whether to continue the collaboration.
The formal awarding and processing of contracts is carried out by HR Development. The process design, timing and scheduling are then agreed between the coach and manager.

Collegial case consultation

Peer counseling is a structured counseling session in a group in which one participant is advised by the other participants according to a set procedure. The aim of peer counseling is to develop solutions for specific professional situations - especially when no (simple) solution is available at first glance.

Employee appraisals are an effective tool in personnel management. Well prepared and conducted, they contribute to employee satisfaction, a trusting atmosphere in the team and, ultimately, to good work results. Managers who would like to conduct these appraisals can find information and ideas on the structure, process and content of appraisals in the "Guidelines for employee appraisal interviews". Managers also play a central role in the implementation of university strategies, e.g. in the important areas of family-friendly universities, diversity and internationalization. They are the ones who encourage and support employees to take advantage of appropriate offers to reconcile work and family life. The Family Service Office and the Human Resources Department provide a range of information and materials and advise managers individually to help them with these two tasks.
