Application with German university entrance qualification

Many degree programs at htw saar have restricted admission, i.e. you must apply for a place. You can apply online via the htw saar SIM application portal:

The documents to be submitted with the application via the SIM portal can be found in the program-specific attachments.

Procedure

1. Register* or log in** to the SIM application portal* or SIM student portal**
2. After logging into the application portal, start the "Study place application" tile.
3. Enter all required information about the study program you are applying for online.
4. Upload any required documents to the designated location and "Submit application".
5. Manage applications under "My applications" if required

Some Bachelor's degree programs are admission-free. You can enrol for the first semester of one of the non-restricted degree programs offered if you select "Direct enrolment" in the htw saar SIM application portal.

Applications can be submitted until 30 September for the winter semester and until 31 March for the summer semester.

If your application is successful, you will receive a letter of admission:

usually in August (if the application deadline is 15.07. for the winter semester)
usually in February (if the application deadline is 15.01. for the summer semester)

If you do not receive proof of your university entrance qualification from your school by July 15, 2024, please apply for a certificate from your school with the type of degree, the average grade according to the State Treaty on the Allocation of Study Places and the date of issue of the certificate and submit it via the application portal within the application deadline. You must submit the certificate at the latest when you enrol.

If the practical part of the Fachhochschulreife has not yet been completed by the end of the application deadline, but will be completed by the start of the semester (01.10. or 01.04.), htw saar will also accept a provisional certificate from the responsible school authority for the application. Please use this form for this purpose. The final certificate confirming that you have been awarded the Fachhochschulreife must be submitted to htw saar by the time you enrol at the latest.

One document can be used to prove several things. For example, your high school diploma can be uploaded as proof of "university entrance qualification" and you can also use it as proof of language proficiency for some degree programs.

In the SIM portal, the current processing status and necessary steps are displayed on the respective application tile. We will also keep you up to date by e-mail.
